Embu leaders fight in front of Ruto

Deputy president William Ruto on Monady evening came face to face with the wrangles facing Embu county leaders when the leader engaged in a war of words in front of him when he toured the county.

Ruto witnessed the war of words between Embu county Governor Martin Wambora and those opposing the governor led by senator Leny Kivuti and Runyenjes MP Cecile Barire.

Either the Deputy president took the chance to calm the leaders and also asked them to put aside their differences and serve those who put them to power.

“There will be examinations in 2017, and those who will not have performed will fail and go home... leader from this area should work to bring the people of this county together”, Ruto reiterated.

Either Wambora did not hide his anger and used the stage to ask his opponents to wait for 2017 to challenge him.

“You will find Wambora in the ballot 2017 you like it or not, you will not get me out before 2017”, Wambora said.

Gor cry out for sponsors

Gor Mahia coach is calling on donors to come out and sponsor Gor Mahia to help get them out of the financial nightmare they are currently going through.
Natall said this after the club arrived at the country from Tanzania where thy were participating in the Cecafa Kangame cup.

Gor were second in the tournament after loosing at the finals to home team Azam FC despite Gor having the upper hand of winning the match.

“We are calling for any sponsor to sponsor the club, because we have no sponsor for the last 16 months I believe..” Natall said.

Gor Mahia did not come from the tournament with second position only as Michael Olunga snatched the golden boot.

Olunga speaking to journalists after arriving in the country said that they have learnt a lot from the tournament and they are now ready to defend the KPL cup which they are holding in the country.

“We have accepted the defeat and we will strategize for our league matches hopefully to defend the title...” Olunga said.

Teacher threatens to down tools over pay rise

Teachers have threatened to down their tools next month if the employer, Teachers Service Commission(TSC) does not obey the court order and award the a 50-60% pay rise.

KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion and Chairman Mudzo Nzili have also said that they will pull out of the AON medical cover claiming it is being given to specific teachers and on selective terms.

“The simple fact about teachers is that, end of August, if there are no salaries; 50,60, they will not resume duty on September... the war has just began” Sossion said.

Speaking at the KNUT headqaurter in Nairobi on Sunday the two also warned TSC against using medical schemes to weaken KNUT.

“The employer has found this is the way to finish us(KNUT)... let the employer remain with there AON and teachers remain with the medical allowance...” Mudzo triumphed.

The union has also questioned the independence of TSC saying that the govt and the SRC has time and again compromised TSC.

Campus politics taking a New Stage

National politics and election are the only ones in the country that are accompanied by heavy spending to get the seat. If you thought that too, then you must be wrong and need to walk in some universities during their campaign period to prove yourself wrong!!!

For a long time University elections have never been so involving until of late. You could win any position without campaigning too much and spending much during the campaigns.But of late it is a very different case.

At the University of Nairobi is where the revolution started, during their last year's elections where Babu Owino emerged the winner billboards and even Road show lorries were used in the campaigns. Babu Owino says that he spend up to nearly Sh10million for campaigns, this is not a joke!

Somebody said “Politics is a bad game”, and this phrase may also be applying in our university politics also. In last year's Mount Kenya University campaigns rumors spread that one aspirant was allegedly splashed with Sulphuric Acid on her face by an opponent, Days after the incident another aspirant who is vying for the Entertainment docket was attacked while walking from the school to his house. 

Rumors has it that most of the aspirants are funded by big politicians and famous businessmen who either has interest or want to help the aspirants grow politically.

Is campus politics making way for to the national politics or is national politics paving way to the universities?.

Opinion: Mutua in a political 'Island'

Of late Machakos county Governor Dr Alfred Mutua have not been seen or heard in any event or political event unlike before.

Since when he was elected Mutua has enjoyed airplay and praise for his development projects in the county which saw the county be announced numbered one in the country by research institutions.

This was not all as Mutua rubbished claims of a plan to impeach him from the Wiper party for what they termed as disloyalty for working closely with the govt of the day which saw president Uhuru Kenyatta visit Machakos county two time in three years of service.

The difference between governor Mutua and Senator Johnston Muthama has also been thought to be the other cause of why Mutua is standing between the lines of ditching wiper and joining the current govt.

All this made many people think that Mutua could be the next Ukambani kingpin after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

And as Mutua used to say “Leadership Mantle is not given, it is taken”, made it look like he is working to take the Ukambani kingpin mantle from Kalonzo without waiting for his master to retire.

Things though seems to have changed for Mutua since when renown Ukambani leaders Charity Ngilu and Kalonzo Musyoka who have been arch rivals for a long time seem to be reading from the same script.

Governor Mutua who seemed to enjoy the division of the Kamba community caused by the differences between Ngilu and Kalonzo now looks like he is shocked as nobody expected the two to reunite.

As Lupita said “Your dreams are valid” but those of Mutua carrying the day seems to be shuttered confused which way to go, will he bow down to his seniors or will he join the Jubilee govt as earlier thought which currently has no command in the Ukambani region?

Five die in Kimana road accident

Five people have died on the spot in a grisly road accident along the Emali-Oloitoktok highway early Tuesday morning.

The tragic road accident occurred after the vehicle they were traveling in lost control hitting an electricity pole killing instantly all the five occupants.

One of the witnesses says that he found the vehicle after the accident but thought they were thugs escaping the scene.

“I found the vehicle but I never thought it was an accident, I escaped thinking it they were robbers...” the witness said.

Oloitoktok OCPD Hurbert Khaemba says that he could not immediately establish the cause of the accident since they were no other vehicles on the road.

Area residents either say that the driver of the vehicle might have been drunk with Khaemba indicating that by judging the extend of damage the driver seems to have been over speeding. 

Investigations to the cause of the accident are underway with the body of the deceased taken to Oloitoktok Mortuary.
